Student Leadership
At Oasis Academy Blakenhale Junior, children have the opportunity to apply for several leadership roles including: Eco Council, Academy MPs, Wellbeing and Physical Health Champions, 9 Habits Champions and Mini SLT. This ensures that their voice is heard and they make a positive impact on the lives of their peers whilst at school.
Academy MPs are voted in by their classmates and represent the views of their class. Here are our current Academy MPs:
Lillith, Osman and Layton are the Chairs of the School Council:
Our Academy MPs also have the huge responsibility of being ‘Rights Ambassadors’. We are very proud to be a Silver accredited school and the Rights Ambassadors are working hard to get our school to gold.
The Blakenhale Eco-Champions are a dedicated team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about looking after our environment. They were elected through a democratic process after demonstrating their aptitude and willingness to ensuring that our academy takes a proactive stance on sustainability. Here are our current Eco-Champions:
The 9 Habits Champions were chosen to be inspirational, aspirational figures who children throughout the school can look up to. They understand that the 9 Habits are something that we always need to work on and that this process is a marathon, not a sprint. The children are constantly on the lookout to highlight any great examples of peers across the school showing any of the habits. Here are our 9 Habits Champions:
Our Fitness and Well-being Council is made up of 12 children, each representing every class, who were voted into the group by their peers. As Fitness and Wellbeing Champions, they are a group who are dedicated to helping their peers with the development of their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
These fitness and wellbeing champions can provide advice and support to their peers, listen without judgement, and signpost them to appropriate sport, fitness and wellbeing opportunities.
